I’ve heard that breastfeeding makes you hungry. It’s true. It’s also true that if you are breastfeeding, your body is trying to tell you something. How it feels (especially once your milk has been expelled), what you are fed, and how you are holding your baby could be signs that your body is trying to tell you that you are hungry.
This is actually a rather simple rule of thumb to use for yourself and your child. If you are breastfeeding, you are probably hungry. If you are eating and your baby is in your arms, you are probably hungry too. As for the two other things we mentioned above, your baby may not be really hungry, but maybe just feeling a bit hungry. If you are eating and your baby is resting, your body wants to tell you that you are hungry.
I can’t say that I have ever seen this rule of thumb proven to be correct. But I can tell you that I can’t think of any other reason why someone might be hungry. I’m sure that all of us have heard of people who have experienced some type of major medical event and not been able to function at all.
One of the most common reasons for people to be hungry is stress. This is often a result of having just completed a certain task that was either too boring for them or in their mind, had already been successfully completed. I think that you can probably guess why I’m writing this.

Sure, breastfeeding is stressful. The issue is that people are so used to being in a stressful situation that they don’t see the problem. I mean, I know that Ive had to do something that was both uneventful and boring for some reason. I can’t think of any other reason. I also know that Ive been in similar situations with my own kids.
I know what you mean. It is easy to blame one’s own behavior for one’s hunger. But it doesn’t really work that way. What’s more likely is that the eating is a reaction to a stressful situation. If it’s a stress reaction, it is likely to go away. If it’s not a stress reaction, it may actually become a problem.
You might think that you cant make yourself sick by eating a banana. But that wouldnt be true. Ive had banana-related illnesses before and they were always resolved shortly thereafter. The problem is that when you get hungry for a prolonged period of time, your brain starts to process food in an unusual way. So instead of just being hungry for food, you start to eat things that stimulate your appetite.
This may be why you might be hungry, but it may also be the reason why you are likely to have a different eating habit in the future. If you are a person who is chronically hungry, it is likely that you will have a different eating habit in the future. People who are chronically hungry are more likely to have a different eating habit in the future than people who are not chronically hungry.
